Thom has twenty years experience as an inter-disciplinary creative. His work has spanned many areas of design practices from branding to print media, from interactive to animation/film, from exhibition design to architecture. He has led multiple design teams including a 7-person design firm on Madison Avenue in NYC including clients such as Elizabeth Arden, Gucci, Related Properties, Starwood Hotels, Marriott, Sofitel and more, from New York to London to Dubai. He has since been involved in an array of projects that include Iron Chef Jose Garces, Berkshire Brewing Co. and Loews Hotels. Thom is the owner and creative director of IdeaCo., a full-service branding and design studio located in Holyoke, MA. Their clients come from a range of industries including academia, food & beverage, hospitality, products/services and more.
He is also a designer and collaborator with Wodiczko + Bonder, an art and architectural practice focused on public art and design; the team recently completed the Memorial for the Abolition of Slavery in Nantes, France.
Thom is an associate professor of architecture + design at Hampshire College, teaching courses across disciplines and collaborating with students on design and innovation projects. He teaches courses on design thinking, architecture, graphic design interdisciplinary design and idea representation. He has previously taught at Columbia University, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Thom received his B-Arch from Roger Williams University and his MS in Advanced Architectural Design (with a focus on Information Graphics and Representation) from Columbia University.
